Sports columnist Rick Morrissey is leaving the Chicago Tribune for the rival Chicago Sun-Times, the Tribune's sports staff was told Friday night.

Word of Morrissey's exit came in a note from Mike Kellams, the paper's associate managing editor for sports. "Rick has been a great colleague at the Tribune, and we wish him well in this new chapter of his career," Kellams wrote.

Morrissey never struck me as a must-read. Kind of boring. I preferred him to Mike Downey, but that's about it. Downey was awful.

On the other hand, David Haugh has potential, so this move works for me. Sun-Times, knock yourselves out.

yesssssssssss! sooooo happy. don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Darn...
Hate to see him go.
He's been writing some great stuff of late.
