The Denver Post reports: Former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan has been in discussions to become the Washington Redskins' next head coach, according to two NFL sources.
The two sides still have some issues to work through, however, before an agreement is reached. The 4-9 Redskins long have been eliminated from playoff contention and have three games remaining with coach Jim Zorn.
Redskins owner Daniel Snyder began housecleaning Wednesday with Bruce Allen replacing Vinny Cerrato as general manager. One NFL source said that when Shanahan spoke with the Buffalo Bills last month about their new front-office/coaching openings, Allen was to be included in the package there.

Lovie was voted in the top 12 of the most respected coaches by the NFL head coaches prior to this season. My point is that before we go kicking a guy, consider that we could have one of the guys at the bottom of the list: Brad Childress, Norv Turner, or Wade Phillips. All these guys have better teams but will do nothing with them (again), while Lovie does more with less. Preseason predictions for the Bears by nfl.com was 6-10. Lovie looks like he has done about right with his talent.

That says it all about the logic of the "meatheads" of Chicago.
Bears could use Shanahan, maybe he knows all the magical secrets of why Cutler sucks so bad.

Good place for Shanahan, anywhere but Chicago. And the Panthers can have Cowher. There is a reason these two guys have been unemployed---they are not respected inside locker rooms.
If the Bears choose to replace their current head coach, who is considered an above average coach, the only logical choice is Mike Holmgren.
While I'm sure Dan Snyder would love to get Shanahan, don't forget that Bruce Allen has worked with Gruden successfully for a long time. If the Skins can't get Shanahan, Chucky is probably Plan B.
Good choice for the Redskins and the Panthers may go after Bill Cowher ..... then there's the Chicago Bears .... let'see the two biggest names will already be taken, hmmmm, maybe they can chase down .... June Jones.
