CHAMPAIGN -- Chasson Randle sure knows how to be a tease.
The Rock Island junior guard and Illini prospect put on a show that would make any college coach drool during Rock Island's 58-53 victory over Robinson. He scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Then after the game, he teased Illini fans even more.
Last year, Randle played well in the Deron Williams Shootout at Assembly Hall and followed that up with another solid performance Saturday.
"I guess I'm shooting pretty well (at Assembly Hall), so it's looking good for the Illini," Randle said with a laugh.
Randle is not only considering the Illini, but Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Stanford and "a couple other schools." He said Illinois is "pretty high" on his list.
Saturday, Randle squared off against Meyers Leonard's squad from Robinson.
Leonard, who signed his letter of intent to play at Illinois had 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting. But it was Randle who stole the show. He displayed an improved jumper as he shot 9-for-19 and hit three 3-pointers.
"I just tried to work on that all summer. I shoot as many jumpers as I can until I feel like my arms are about to fall off." Randle said.
When asked if the Illini's guard heavy freshman class would have any impact on his decision, Randle said: "Playing against such good guards as Brandon Paul and DJ Richardson, if they're still here, they'll make me better and that's what I'm looking forward to if I choose to come to Illinois," Randle said.
Randle was also asked if Bradley Beal's decision to attend Florida would impact his choice of school. Illinois had pursued Beal, a highly-touted guard who announced last month that he would attend Florida.
"It would've been nice to have him here with me," Randle said. He paused, then added: "If I decide to come here."
