Patrick Ryan to help assess Olympic failures

Chicago 2016 chairman Patrick Ryan was named today as one of 14 members of an independent advisory committee that will assess the U.S. Olympic Committee's board structure and operations.

Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue chairs the committee. Its formation was announced last month in reaction both to Chicago's first-round ouster in the 2016 bidding and widespread discontent over USOC policy and operations expressed by members of the national sports federations who train nearly all the athletes on U.S. Olympic teams.

The committee is expected to produce a report by the end of March.

What a waste of money. Who Cares? It's over. Get over it already! You mean you couldn't find a better way to use these funds?????

Who are the other 13 members? Was Tom Tresser, No Games Chicago, invited to join the committee? Joe Lake, Bucktown

Daley's quote from yesterday's 2016 volunteer luncheon: "We spent $75 million, and the next city was going to have to spend $100 million, and we didn't even have a chance."

So now we can spend more money to find out what doesn't matter anymore anyway?

Having King Barry and My Belle Michelle get up there and tell the IOC how great the Olympics would be FOR THEM did not help.

Sure, waste more time on a committee and sour grapes. Daley had it right that it was all politics and money, and if anyone should know, it is Daley.

At least Illinois taxpayers did not get stuck on the unlimited guaranty of the IOC's profits.
