INDIANAPOLIS -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen cleared himself of any suspicions he was with Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera in the wee hours before Cabrera was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife.

"I wish Miguel was with me, because all this (bleep) wouldn't have happened," Guillen said today to Detroit reporters who asked him about the Oct. 3 incident, which occurred during the Sox's last visit to Detroit.

Suspicions surrounded Guillen because of his friendship with Cabrera, a fellow Venezuelan, dating back to their days with Florida during the 2003.

Cabrera was at the Sox's hotel in suburban Detroit before heading home and being confronted by his wife. Cabrera was reported to have a blood-alcohol level of .26,  three times the legal limit. He played later that night and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and stranded six runners.
