Forte: Text from Urlacher cleared up comments

After causing a stir this week with his comments to Yahoo! Sports regarding the Bears' offense and running back Matt Forte, linebacker Brian Urlacher has made efforts to smooth things out with his teammates.

In a day-in-the-life interview with reporter Michael Silver, Urlacher said, "We don't make anyone (expletive) miss" after watching Forte go down following a screen play against the Vikings.

Forte said he received a text messages from Urlacher on Tuesday.

"I hadn't heard anything about it and he said he wasn't trying to take any shots at me,'' Forte said today. "I was like, 'What are you talking about?' He said the quote might have sounded a certain way, but he would never do that, being a teammate."
When initially asked about Urlacher's comments after Wednesday's practice, Forte responded, "Urlacher has his own opinion. If I couldn't make anybody miss, I probably wouldn't be playing pro football."

Forte said there is no animosity between the two.

"I'm not (ticked) off at all," Forte said. "Brian has been here a long time. He's a great player. He sees certain things. I know what he says and does is not meant to harm anybody or take shots at anybody."

My question is, did he mention the lack of defense?
If he called out the whole team, that would be fair, but if he was just harping on the offense, then he's got a problem.

I love when people still find a way to pick on Urlacher. Since he is been out our defense has really taken several steps back.So I'd say they miss him more then some people think.

...only thing that doesn't get blocked on Urlacher is his mouth...

My only question is this: "What would we be saying if Ochocinco had said this about his teammates? How would we view his statements?"

In other words, Urlacher has put his foot in his mouth twice this season. For the last few years, he has come across as a complainer. And now he has been quoted twice by the media this year bashing his teammates. I'm not saying we should run him out of town for these two transgressions, but neither should we be making excuses for him. Let him feel the heat for these comments. I'd rather see the petulant "I won't talk to the media" Brian than the "Let's throw another offensive teammate under the bus" Brian we've all seen lately. You're on the sidelines Brian. As Ditka would say "Get yer mouth shut!"

My problem is not with the comments that Urlacher made. It's the fact that he has retracted some of them, says the media took his words out of context. When is Brian going to take a stand and completely own up to what he said?

To call a team out and then apologize? What was the point of calling them out in the first place? Stick to one side of the fence Brian.

People don't understand. People just don't understand. Let me put this in caps.

URLACHER IS REALLY TALKING ABOUT THE INEPTNESS OF 5 YEARS OF TERRIBLE RON TURNER OFFENSIVE PLAYS, GAMEPLANNING AND PLAYCALLING.

Urlacher can't criticize the coach no matter what his status on the team is. No employee in any line of work, not even the local shoshine boy will criticize his/her boss in these tough economic times.

However people don't read inbetween the lines. I will put this in caps again.

WHAT URLACHER IS DOING IS THAT BY SAYING THE TEAM HAS NO RUNNING GAME AND THE IDENITY IS BEING CHANGED HE IS TRYING TO INDICT AND DESERVEDLY SO THE POOR OFFENSE THAT RON TURNER IS PUTTING UP. DO MATT FORTE AND JAY CUTLER MAKE THE TEAM'S OFFENSIVE IDENITY? NO, RON TURNER DOES THAT. THEY PLAYERS JUST EXECUTE THE STINKING PLAYS.

Read between the lines people.

You've got to be kidding me. Nothing was said that wasn't true. Granted, things should usually be kept in house, but sometimes people need to be called out. Everyone is motivated differently. The way this season has gone suggests a different motivational technique needs to be implemented. As for Urlacher, he might not be the same player that he was back in his prime, but I don't think that its a coincidence that with him out Chicago has been blown out three times and given up the most yardage in a game since the early 80s.

Brain needs to shut his pie hole. Not only is he over the hill (has not done anything for the Bears team in 3 years except collect those hugh pay checks while sitting on the bench) but now he is showing his stupidity by making comments that do not support his team members, than he has to apologize and try to make nice with his team mates. Brain, you are not the face of the Bears any more and it is time for the Bears to either trade you or just fire you. You are not a team player. Go to another team and spread your poison.
