Cubs general manager Jim Hendry took the blame for the Milton Bradley fiasco, but made the deal with Seattle today to spare the organization of further aggravation.
"In hindsight, it was an acquisition I'm responsible for that didn't work out," he said of Bradley's $30 million deal. "I bear the responsibility for that not working out."
Does Bradley take any of the blame for the nightmarish season? According to one of his close friends, Bradley believes the blame should be 50-50 between himself and the Cubs.
"I would think he would think he should've performed better," Hendry said. "But I can't speak for him."
Right-hander Carlos Silva, whom the Cubs acquired along with $9 million, has been monitored by the Cubs during Winter Ball in Venezuela, in hopes that he'll be able to turn things around.
Silva will compete for a starting spot this spring, and is likely to begin the season in the rotation, at least until Ted Lilly gets back sometime in May. After that, it depends on how Silva fares on the mound. He could wind up in middle relief.
Silva is owed $11.5 million in both 2010 and '11, plus a $2 million buyout of his option year in '12. Bradley is owed $9 million in 2010 and $13 million in '11, including incentives. Thus the Cubs get $6 million of salary relief.
The long-running Bradley saga has been ongoing since April, when he was ejected and ultimately suspended after being called out on strikes in his first at-bat as a Cub at Wrigley Field. Tampa Bay and Texas were considered the prime suitors this winter, but both wanted the Cubs to pay the bulk of Bradley's contract.
Trade talked lingered, with teams denying rumors left and right at the Winter Meetings in Indianapolis.
"It really had a lot of twists and turns," Hendry conceded.
Hendry said there were more teams interested in Bradley than anyone
in the media believed. Despite rumors in Indy, Hendry said the Cubs
never had a conversation about a Bradley-Silva trade until Wednesday.
Mariners president Chuck Armstrong flat-out denied last week that a
trade was in the works.
Hendry also denied the Bradley trade talks stifled him during this offseason of inactivity. He said the Cubs payroll will "approach $140 million," and that no GM "can complain about that."
Is Hendry relieved it's finally over?
"I don't know if relief is the right word, but I felt obligated to (finish a deal)," Hendry said.
Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik sounded thrilled today over getting Bradley -- or unloading Silva.
"We have been looking to add offense to our club and in Milton have a player who has always gotten on base and has the ability to drive in runs," Zduriencik said. "He is passionate about winning, as we are, and we believe he'll be a good fit here."

The Cubs will be "Diddly Poo", as they are every year.
While everyone remembers Bradley's terrible beginning after the break he performed well.

Name one other person who thought getting Bradley was a brilliant idea.
But, hey, we'll get to see filme online gratisa lot of home runs next year if Silva gets healthy.
Visit the greeting.
Does anyone remember him taking a risk on Dempster when no one else would? Or trading for a third baseman that was good enough to stay more then one season?
I questioned the capability of Jim Hendry to lead a team.sorry to say this but this was my opinion, and i just spread it as my job.Its a good thing to have this kind of sports in this country.GOD BLESS!!!

The best design for benches is leather. The cloth make the hard structure of the bench nicer while maintaining a classic look.
Nice one, there is actually some good facts on this blog some of my associates may find this worthwhile, I will send a link, many thanks.
Your darn right Silva ate innings in Seattle. He also ate plenty of pumpkin seeds, peanuts, ding dongs and the whole frekkin clubhouse buffet spread.
Hendry finally admitted his costly mistakes. It's about time! I agree with Dean. Hendry is definitely no good at building a team. The Ricketts family needs to get rid of Hendry soon before he really takes the Cubs down the tubes.
Thats right bhawk61. I forgot that Prior was on the D.L. as usual when the Sox schooled the chubs. Now grab your blankee and go to your corner.
Sox fans bringing up last year? You really have nothing to say. Granted both teams missed the playoffs but the Cubs finished above .500 and the Sox finished below .500.
Losers should just keep their mouths shut.
yeah picking up dead weight and 16 mill in obligations is 'adding'... what a dipshi#. even if the cubs picked up burrell for the same amount and he hit once a week it would have been a better trade...
Well let's seep Kdub. Cubs are picking up 16M and dumping 22M. That equals 6M that the Cubs made. As stated before Sox fans can't do math. Yeah congrats on the Sox beating the injury depleted Cubs last year.
Hendry got what he wanted...rid of Bradley. Plus he came out $6M ahead on the deal. Cub fans shouldn't bellyache, even though everyone knows that sore-armed Silva will never make the team, they were willing to give Bradley his unconditional release and swallow the entire $22M as a loss. Now it's only a $16M write-off.
Bradley? He's going to be a cancer on Seattle and may cost them the division title they set themselves up nicely to contend for with the acquisitions of Figgens and Lee. Even if he gets his mind right and absolutely ignites the Mariners, Cub fans must realise that he would never help them. Baseball is not a zero sum game. Sometimes it's win-win, sometimes lose-lose, other times win-lose. Just dumping Bradley is the "win" part for Chicago. Be satisfied.
I just looked at marlon byrds stats he's not bad at all only 98 So's in 547 ab's but I'd still rather get damon.I just hate players who numbers are inflated in contract years IE: Milton Bradley and Ryan Dumpster.Everyone gets it together when they're up for a new contract.I'd rather have a consistent player who plays good everywhere they go like damon.
I'm HOPING johnny damon can become a cub.It makes perfect sense.Marlon Byrd is not the answer and hendry wanted damon in 2005 before the yanks got him.
1. He's not gonna demand a huge contract maybe a 2 year deal at 8-9 mil a year he's 36.(I might be wrong boras is his agent)
2.He's a Lead off hitter on any team besides the yanks and he can hit for average, get walks and steal bases. He's a smart vet with plenty of experience.
3.He can still play CF even tho his arm is not the best Give him rest and let sam fuld back him up.Fuld is not an everyday player he's just like mike fontenot Perfect off the bench.
There goes another lefty bat, great clubhouse guy and CF.
The cubs are trying to win NOW get guys in here that can help us get to the WS.Colvin, castro and vitters should be ready by time these contracts start expiring.
Yanks aren't gonna resign damon It makes sense to get him.I know its wishful thinking

Dumb post by kdub. Just another bitter Sox fan that can't add. The Cubs did make money out of the deal. How is Rios working out? Thanks for picking up our trash (Pierre)
The Cubs at worst will be shooting for their 4th consecutive winning season while the Sox hope they don't repeat finishing below .500 playing in the weakest division in baseball.
--
yeah picking up dead weight and 16 mill in obligations is 'adding'... what a dipshi#. even if the cubs picked up burrell for the same amount and he hit once a week it would have been a better trade...
and actually rios is going to work out just fine. in fact he's better than anyone in the cubs outfield... how's soriano working for ya?? how much you guys payin him again?? 17 ...? congrats on having the third highest pay roll in the league and absolutely nothing to show for it. pahah weakest division in baseball?? im pretty sure the AL central beat out the NL central this year in interleague play. and im pretty sure the sox took the series from the chubs as well... good try tho
My guess is that Milton has a great 3 months or so in Seattle but then implodes in a fit of selfishness just like he has done everywhere else. One thing for sure, Seattle is NOT going to the playoffs.
Yea there is more than offense so lets add the fact that soriano led the cubs in outfield assists and was top 5 in the NL.How many times has he thrown out the runner at the plate trying to score? Yea he has struggled tremendously at times but he has done more for the cubs in the 3 years he's been here than aramis ramirez has done yet theres not outrage for ramirez who SUCKS in the playoffs.
1.J.Damon
2.Fukudome
3.Lee
4.Ramirez
5.Soriano
6.Baker
7.Soto
8.Theriot
That is a great lineup that will compete for the NL pennant
Soriano is the 4th player in mlb history in the 40-40 club and is a perennial all star including 2004 All star Mvp.LOL @ Cub fans crying about a guy who strikes out a lot its quite clear most of you dont know anything about baseball and johnny damon would be the perfect addition the cubs wanted him in 2005 but the yanks got him 1st.Riiiiiiight trade soriano for migeul cabrera it's just that easy to do cabrera has a 8 year 160 million deal how are the cubs gonna pull that off genius?
That's OK. Everybody makes mistakes.
No matter what Hendry does from now on, he is still a better GM than the Bears GM Angelo in my book. If he just can find a way to trade Soriano for Miguel Cabrera, Hendry would be considered as a genius. After all, that is his specialty by raping finacially challenged teams and come out ahead.
The more I think about this, the more I dislike this trade. Since the Cubs had gotten to the point where no good free agent options are available now in late Dec--they may as well have held on to Bradley and tried trading him later. It may not have been a great deal but it probably would have been better than Carlos Silva.
Bradley is a jerk, but why trade away a good lefty hitter that at some point will be tradeable again for Silva who, if not for this big contract would probably be out of baseball by now? The man has zero worth.
Now if things don't work out in Seattle, the Mariners can easily dump Bradley's contract to a team at the trading deadline that is deperate for a left handed bat.
The Cubs however, are stuck with Silva for the remainder of his contract. Noone is going to want to trade for a pitcher that bad who makes that much money.
who said they were favorite to win the central? you sound like a diddly poo sox fan. math, lol shows you didn't learn anything in school. are sox fans still jumping from the stands and beating up old coaches? shows you weren't very good at sports. Soriano sucks. there's more to baseball than just offense and he stunk last year. let's see what he does in 2010, and don't tell me about 2007-08 or even 2009 once 2010 starts. he's a DH at best. J. Damon, lol. give me a break.
Here's the reason to now rid ourselves of Hendry and Piniella. In this no-one-wins trade, fns, lose, Cubs lose and the Ricketts family will be re-thinking the entire purchase. What lousy management they got in the deal from the Trib. It proves that Hendry is in over his head. Piniella cannot manage anymore if he ever could and we wonder if Silva can lift a finger to help out the starting rotation EVER. Pass the cyanide, please.

Well, here's how it is broken down for those who struggle with basic addition and subtraction:
$22 million overall to bradley
$25 million overall to silva
TOTAL: the cubs are on the hook for $3 million more but when the $9 million seattle gave the cubs is subtracted, it comes out to $6 million more for the cubs...
kudos to hendry for actually MAKING money on this deal. bradley's sour attitude and work ethic is gone. this is as much addition by subtraction as any deal in cubs history. they traded away a name and become the favorite to win the central division in the process...maybe silva will pan out, or maybe he won't, but what he won't do is become a clubhouse cancer and a distraction. he'll simply sit in the bullpen and mop up...OR, he'll use this change of scenery and maybe succeed. frankly, i don't care because he's the most popular guy in chicago now -- again, addition by subtraction.
-- since the other thread is closed i just wanted to point out how stupid some of you people really are. here is your typical idiot cubs fan who actually thinks the cubs just MADE money... wow...
here's the real math:
11.5 - 3 (M's paying) = 8.5 for 2010
11.5 - 6 '' = 5.5 for 2011 = 14 dumba$$es
plus 2 for 2012 to buyout
congrats.. the cubs are eating 14 million dollars (plus 2 for '12) for a buffet partner for 'big Z'... LOL and chubs fans say Kenny Williams is a bad GM??? haha the sox have the better team and at 40 MILLION less..
loveable losers haha
I'm a lifelong Cub fan living in Seattle (who's also an M's fan when they're not playing the Cubs). This is a good deal for both teams. The M's were gonna have to cut Silva and eat the bucks cuz there's no place for him. Now they have a switch-hitter LF/DH option who gets on base when he's right. If he goes south, the M's will cut him and eat the cash. They can't lose in this deal. Neither can the Cubs. Silva is a stand-up guy, great in the clubhouse. He was a disappointment here, but he was also rarely healthy. He ate innings in Minnesota when he was healthy. If he sucks in Chicago, you dump him and eat the cash.
Calm down people. If anu of you really think this is now the team that is going to open this season with, you are just plain stupid. IT'S DECEMBER 18TH!! More moves will be made.
For all you people who hate soriano so much answer this. How can a guy who has led the cubs in HR's in 07 and 08 while missing significant time both seasons on the DL be that bad? If you watched baseball you would of knew that soriano has always been a free swingin guy who chases outside breaking pitches just like shaq cant hit FT's sori cant hit outside sliders HE ALWAYS played this way he set a record in 03 WS for most strikeouts. So you expect hendry to just release or trade him?? You cant possibly be this clueless what team is gonna want a 34 y/o with 5 years almost 100 million left on his contract?? The cubs record without soriano was 28-28 and 69-37 with him, bottom line is he helps the cubs, without him pitchers would never pitch to lee or ramirez.Yea sori has'nt played up to his capabilities but niether has aramis ramirez who was a whopping 0-13 in 2007 nlds and a blazing 2-14 in 2008 nlds.Either accept the guy or support another team he is here to stay he has a no trade clause so you just cant "Dump him".He's positive amid all the booeing he constantly gets and the cubs also have 2 playoff trips in the 3 seasons he's been here.Without soriano the cubs would be a 4th place team and all you idiots who think "Dumping" sori and putting reed johnson/fuld in his place are truly clueless to how baseball works fuld is trash and reed Johnson is a freaking back up at best.
Me Sox fan. Me no understand baseball, but me like trade for Cubs. This had to be done. MB was shut down at the end of the season, there's been no lack of coverage on Hendry's attempt to move him -- in fact, you maybe could blame the Cubs for making the situation worse than it was, which seems impossible.
They won't get their money out of Silva, but they're not expected to. It's a microcosm of the bad assets infecting the national economy. Someone has to deal with them. At the time, the Bradley contract seemed better than the Silva one -- ask any Minny fan. (Mickey excluded.)
1.Zambrano
2.Lilly
3.Dumpster
4.Randy wells
5.silva,smardzija or sean marshall
Where are the cubs "Holes" in the staring pitching exactly??
1st month of the season has more off days and there will be rain outs so lilly's absence can be absorbed with a 4 man rotation or a 5th spot starter. This same staff had a top 5 era last year.Go sign johnny damon for 2 years 16-18 million and the cubs will go to the NLCS next year.
why is hendry responsible for this?
oh, right, he is the GM.
While everyone remembers Bradley's terrible beginning after the break he performed well. See J's statistics. Considering that he was batting behind Soriano those are pretty good numbers.
By contrast Silva hasn't pitched since May of last year. The year before that he had an ERA of around 8.00 Pithing in pitcher friendly SafeCo field.
So the Cubs outfield of next years looks like Soriano, Fukudome, and Fuld. Good grief that maybe the worst outfield in Baseball.
Our starting rotation will be Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly, Silva and Gorzlonny ?. With Lilly coming off shoulder surgery.
This is not looking good. I wonder while Hendry is taking blame for this mess will he also take the blame for Soriano, Fukudome . The lousy farm system.
Once again you cub fans continues to amaze me. now we all know that there was history with Milton before he became a Cub. and you should'nt have expected anything different. sure there Is risk with Milton and It probably will always be. but you Cub fans have no business judging Milton or anybody else for that matter. why don't you call him what you really want to. the word has circulated about you racist Cub fans. Lou Pinella act afool and thats just fine with you. Carlos Zambrano has an Explosion In the dugout. thats cool also. Ted Lilly has words with Pinella and Its tolerated. but who does you Cub fans focus On? thats Right. Milton Bradley. Yeah he's gone and as usual this gives Cub fans yet another excuse for why they haven't won anything. put Bradley down all you want. but the truth of the matter still stands. the Cubs will never win anything. they focus more on getting rid of Bradley than they did on Improving the team. and now that weak Jim Hendry Is admiting that signing Bradley was a mistake. the real mistake Is that he's still the GM. I'm glad that no real superstar In his right mind will not play for the Cubs. you guys are nothing more than Excuse makers. new teams has joined the league and won while the cubs continues to shoot blanks. Cub fans are sad, cub fans are un-realistic. Cub fans are naive. and they're Racist. I'm going to enjoy watching your beloved losers continue to add to their pitiful world series dis-appearance. and this will be one that can't be blamed on Bradley. the cubs has been a cancer to MLB since their very Existance. and Baseball would be better off without them.
Carlos Silva! You got to be kidding me. Who is dumber? Seattle paying 15,000,000 a year for Bradley, or the Cubs actually trotting out Silva and his 8.50 era every fifth game?
Maybe I'm just dumb, but...tell me how we get $6 million in salary relief when:
1. Bradley's salary is $9 million + 13 million = 22 million
2. Silva's salary is 11.5 million + 11.5 million = 23 million + a 2 million dollar buy-out for 2012.
Because Seattle is also sending $9,000,000
9 minus 3 = 6
The whole deal is about the $6,000,000. Silva is done as a ML pitcher.
I am sick of the Hendry bashing. Did he make a mistake with Bradley? Yes.
But on the flip side does anyone remember the last time the Cubs had three winning seasons? Does anyone remember him taking a risk on Dempster when no one else would? Or trading for a third baseman that was good enough to stay more then one season? Or dumping Choi for Lee? Signing Lilly from his hospital bed?
This team could be in a lot worse shape than it is now under different leadership.
While getting rid of Bradley helps, this moves only moderately helps the Cubs. They are getting old at a lot of spots and have many holes, especially with the starting pitchers. Bradley was not the sole reason the Cubs sucked.
The White Sox won't finish worse than second. Rebuilding Tribe, crap Royals, and domeless Twins have no chance. Maybe the Twins have a tiny chance.
I wouldn't favor the Cubs but calling them "a longshot to the make the playoffs" just a season off being one the best teams in baseball is shortsighted. I hope they make a couple more moves now. They really should have got Polanco when they had a chance. And should be going after Holliday now but they won't. Wahahaha payroll.
Silva is junk but could get together and be a decent NL 5th starter.
Bradley is much more valuable but he made everybody hate him by being a d*uche so....
I said it before and I'll say it again. Bradley is not to blame. By major league standards, Bradley is an average ballplayer. He always has been. He is a 50 RBI a year man. His 2008 season was an exception -- his career year. He gave the Cubs all he was capable of giving. To expect him to be a 90-100 RBI a year man is idiotic. Going to Seattle is the best thing that could happen to him.
Can you imagine any of us performing as poorly as Hendry has and keeping our jobs? You would think that even an imbecile with unlimited check writing ability that Hendry had would at least have put a team together that could win a couple of play off games. I was excited about the Ricketts family buying the Cubs until I learned they were keepng Hendry. Without a doubt, the worst gm in the game.
Now hendry rectify last years horrible offseason by signing johnny damon.Left handed CF, Leadoff hitter, steals bases, does'nt have a strong arm but plays hard and plays smart Ie: stealing 2nd and 3rd base in game 4 of the WS When philly's pitcher was'nt covering third. He can play CF even tho he does'nt have the range and speed he once had the guy wins and performs in the clutch and on big stages.PLEASE SIGN JOHNNY DAMON
This trade will not get the Cubs closer to the World Series. It is at best eliminating a player whom the team no longer wanted for one who potentially, but not very likely, can contribute to the team's success.
The Cubs are too deeply flawed in many positions to be considered anything but a longshot to make the playoffs.
The long term contracts all but assure this will be so for some time. Unfortunately, it is hard to see even a silver lining at this point.
I for one would like to see the Cubs trade their older players for potential "stars" of the future and begin the rebuilding process. The older better players are not going to get the Cubs to the playoffs. Their trade value will not be worth more next year or the following years. Waiting is only going to make getting the Cubs competitive again, a bigger challenge.
But on the bright side, being a Cub fan helps develop humility and avoid arrogance.
WOW - Can't believe the Cubbies found someone stupid enough to take this clubhouse cancer off our hands. Seattle - good luck, you're going to need it. Sure we got a turd back in exchange...but all in definitely is addition by subtraction. Hendry cleaned up his mess...but I agree, he still should be fired.
Former Illinois resident now living in Seattle and a die-hard Cubbie. As a Cubbie this is great! As a Seattle guy..this sucks! Now I gotta go through at least another year hearing about this joker.
Wow! Congratulations, Cub fans...you actually found a sucker to take your clubhouse cancer off your hands. Granted you get one of the biggest turd pitchers in baseball in return (having an astronomical ERA while pitching in one of the best pitcher's parks in baseball half of the year isn't a great sign), but to be able to dump a problem like that on another team is nothing short of incredible. I seriously thought the Cubs were going to be forced to cut Bradley before the season started since no one would want him, which still would have been a better option than having him in the clubhouse. I don't care if you make Silva the bat boy the next 2 years, the Cubs are still winners in this deal. As much as I love seeing the Cubs suffer, I gotta shake your hands in congratulations for this move...I never dreamed another team would be stupid enough to take Bradley off your hands. Congratulations, Cub fans!
For those complaining, we got rid of a huge headache in Bradley who hated it here and hated the Cub fans, good riddance, and it's not like we have to keep Silva, relax and let's see how this plays out.
enjoy him, seattle...you can't cover his mouth or his mom's...silva can simply be sent packing to the pen...bradley won't go nearly as quietly. just wait until he blames seattle racism for his struggles. every single organization he's played for, other than texas (irony at its best), was "racist" in regards to him...wierd. it's NEVER milton's fault...it's definitely not his fault he's never been on a playoff team despite playing for more than a handful of teams (including a few teams with consecutive divisional titles until he showed his scowling face)...it must be statistical racism his teams don't finish first...
here's hoping he figures it out and succeeds...i don't wish bad things on him, but i sure wish he'd grow up and act like a man, not a classless, excuse-giving jerk. everyone gets a fresh start, so hopefully he'll become a better man from all this...it's never too late to change, FOR ANY OF US...
@cubfanofnevada
You say to "bring Aaron Rowand on borad". Well, he still has 3 years left on his contract with SF. And since the only trade you propose is to trade Fonzi to the AL, ho exactly are you getting Rowand??
Is there something wrong with the water in Chicago?
There are quite a few teams with "clubhouse cancers" who are players of the caliber of Bradley who deal.
Anyone remember the names of Troy Glaus, Jeff Kent? Scott Spezio - Spezio, that's a name Seattle knows, another Bavasi special. Cut him with a year left on a big contract. Last we heard from him he crashed his car into a house and got into a fight with his best friend while drunk then ran from the police, all after going through rehab.
Kent - got into locker room fights with his team mates, crashed his motorcycle and would up on the DL. in violation of his contract - then lied about it, missing the World Series, what a guy. And a clubhouse cancer to boot.
Quit crying about clubhouse cancers - most of these star athletes are not the kind of guys you want to go out to have a beer with, ego and all.
How soon until Dave Kaplan praises his dear friend Jim Hendry for the pheNOMenal job he did of trading Milton Bradley? Flat out riDICulous!
Looks like another 100 years in waiting...go Cards!
Opening line by Larry Stone of the Seattle Times:
"The Seattle Mariners have found a way to get rid of one of their last lingering problems.".
Bradley is to baseball what Terrell Owens is to football.
Ultimately both of them will disrupt their teams within 12-18 months of their signings. Their histories have proven that and any GM who signs them will, in the end, have to explain why they did it in the first place.
In short, their performance on any team is negated by the negative factor in both the long and short runs.
Both continue to 'steal' the fan's money.
Now we can turn our attention to Mike Cameron...oh, wait...Hendry slept through that one. For years, Hendry has failed miserably on building an outfield with acceptable MLB run production. It's been a parade of garbage...Burnitz, Jockstrap Jones, Bradley, light-hitting Fukodome, etc. We might have been better off teaching Jake Fox right field and accepting some errors and loss of range, but he's the price we had to pay to unload yet another Hendry debacle, Aaron Miles. Just wait, we'll bid against ourselves for Byrd or some other stiff, and give him a contract two years longer than anyone else would, along with a no-trade clause. Can we see some stats on how many of these Hendry gives out vs. other GMs?
Now, if we can just find an American League club that wants Soriano, whose best position is DH. Bring Aaron Rowland on board to play centerfield, and bat fifth - bring Reed Johnson and Mark DeRosa back to be in the left field mix...then we might have an outfield that has some pop and speed, more importantly the Cubs would have a team as Lou would say "Have some swagger" and clubhouse leadership.
Hendry takes the blame? No kidding! Name one other person who thought getting Bradley was a brilliant idea.
Soriano, paging Soriano. You're up next to bat.
Well, now we will see how deep the new ownership's commitment to winning really is. Will they go for Holliday or go for some second rate outfielder.
Marty - The Cubs are getting $9 mil from Seattle in addition to Silva. They'll only be paying $16 mil of his remaining contract.
Hey Y'all. Thanks for taking Silva off our hands! Yahoooo!
mariners are throwing in 9M thats why
Mariner:
No one is celebrating the acquisition of Silva. It's getting rid of the albatross clubhouse cancer and actually making money in the process instead of paying more.
Are we somehow assuming Milton hits incentive targets? How in the world would we assume that?
Don't celebrate too quickly, Cubbies. C. Silva is a disappointment looking for a team to let down.
Bradley's stats for August, when we were hearing so much about what a failure he was:.427 OBP, .911 slugging pct, .308 batting average.
Isn't the Cubs organization's biggest problem with Bradley is that he ticked off the fans by stating that they are easier on white players than black ones? And whether or not he's right (I agree with him, but know plenty of reasonable people who feel otherwise), should this really make him the scapegoat for an underachieving, aging team?!
But, hey, we'll get to see a lot of home runs next year if Silva gets healthy.
I have no confidence in Jim Hendry's ability to build a team. Now that the Cubs have unloaded Bradley, both Hendry and Crane Kenney should be relieved of their duties so they can do no additional damage.
Well, clubhouse cancer is gone. Yay. Hendry should still be fired. He's screwed this team with horrible contracts for YEARS.
Tell us something we dont know.
