Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who today called his status questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, is expected to miss the game because of a sprained left knee and hip pointer, according to a league source.

"It's not looking good," Bears coach Lovie Smith conceded when addressing Briggs' status.

Briggs suffered the injury in last Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Vikings. He already missed two days of practice this week

Jamar Williams is expected to replace Briggs as the starter at weak-side linebacker. The Bears this week signed linebacker Cato June to provide depth.

Briggs last missed a game in December of 2007, when he was sidelined for a game against Green Bay because of a hip pointer.

Tackle Orlando Pace (groin) and tight end Desmond Clark  (neck) also are expected to miss the game.

For the Rams, running back Steven Jackson was held out of practice today because of an ailing back. But he also missed practice last Wednesday and still played in Sunday's game.
