Staff report
In his weekly interview with Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com, general manager Jerry Angelo said the final three games of the season are an opportunity for Jake Cutler to develop rapport with his young receivers, and the nucleus is in place for a playoff run in 2010.
Asked about Lovie Smith saying the Bears have a strong core of players, Angelo said, "We have a good nucleus. Unfortunately, we weren't able to accomplish the things that we wanted to accomplish this season. But there's absolutely no reason to believe that we can't be a playoff team next year."
Regarding Cutler, Angelo said, "How a player adjusts to new things shown by an opponent or how that player performs in the clutch are the types of things that can only be seen on Sunday. So these games are critical because we have such young or new players at a handful of positions."

wonder if gaines adams, our 2nd round pick, figures to be part of that 'good nucleus'
The Bears will go to the Super Bowl next year. Now run out and get your over priced tickets, and buy all the Bear gear you can...heheheheheh.
What else do you expect the moron to say.
Delusional? uhuh. Yea,we'll make a "playoff run" in 10. I can see the "improvement" even now. What a "great job" Angie and Lovie are doing! Why,we should have been in the playoffs "this season" if not for "bad luck". Our "great" draft picks are panning out as we speak. We should be "so lucky" to have such a "fantastic staff" on the Bears. COWHER IN HERE NOW! Ditch Angielovie and Co.. Cowher knows football,is just what this team needs and BADLY!! To think we'll see nothing but the same if this current joke of a staff is around next year is beyond delusional....it's foolish and stupid....
I applaud Jerry and Lovie. Boy they know how to spin it. These guys are dangerous. I see these men anywhere near a card table I am running across the room.
These guys don't have to convince (insult) the entire Bears fanbase's intelligence. Just the 62,000 saps that buy tickets for the games. Let me give you the translation of their optimism. They foresee 8 more Soldier Field sellouts in 2010.
That's good enough to save their jobs for another year!
As far as the core is concerned. I agree with the fans on the forum. I don't see it either.
JA is talking about next year.......what happened to this year? And, how does he think all will be well next year if the Bears retain the same coaching staff? He said the same about this year and last. In fact, every year he has been the failed gm he has said that. This is sad. The gm, head coach, and entire team, except brave Devin Hester, is delusional. Or better still, complete morons and thieves!
"We have a core..." What in the world is Jerry Angelo talking about? There IS NO CORE to this team: it's like walking up to what appears to be a mansion and discovering that it's just a facade propped up by 2-by-4's behind it.
And every time the Bears played a team that had any game at all, they were exposed for the pretenders they are...thanks to the inept coaching and nonexistent development of this staff.
JA has GOT to be kidding! WHAT would possibly get him to think that?? Does Jerry know something we don't; like Ms. Virginia is cleaning house? THAT is the only way anyone could be optimistic for 2010!!
By the way, Jerry is sounding a lot like Wanny back in the '90's. ... SPOOKY!
Does anyone know what Mr. Angelo is talking about? It comes across as gibberish.
Angelo is either delusional or has his head up his asssss!!!! How can he make a comment like that? Maybe he thinks Bear fans are a bunch of morons. We lost 7 out of 9 and probably wont win another this year. So lets say we lose 10 out of our last 12. We get Urlaher back who will be a year older. The defensive line is HoRRRRRRRid as well as the offensive line with O Krudz and O Paste past their primes and will decline even more. Williams has been a bust. Does he think the receivers will make that big a difference with another year??? Our #1 is a #3 on any potential playoff team. We have no safties and our CB can strip the ball but cant cover anyone. I would get rid of anyone except Gould. Oh yeah we have no draft pick until the 3rd round and based on Angelos FA pick ups the last 3 years as well as his ability to draft I for one have no idea where he is coming from. It pisses me off that he would make a comment that we have the nucleus in place for a playoff run in 2010. Is he mocking us? Does he believe if he says it then its true? I dont understand, I thought leaders were suppose to confront the problem and then put a plan in place to fix it. What Nucleus is he talking about? Can anyone help me out here?
I'll be upbeat about next season ONLY IF Angelo immediately resigns. Dear Santa, please make him go away!
Just reinforces my opinion that this entire organization is clueless from top to bottom. What a joke.
And JAKE Cutler? Come on, guys.
They are more delusional than I possibly thought
hmmmm is this about the cubs or the bears?
Jake Cutler....?
EPIC FAIL!
