Ken Williams didn't have much to offer Wednesday morning after the general managers' meetings ended.
But the Sox's GM reiterated it was too early to rule out signing his own free agents.

But the Sox's GM reiterated it was too early to rule out signing his own free agents.
"I don't exclude anything," Williams said. "I know which direction I
want to go, but I can't exclude anyone. I can tell you the likelihood
with each day that goes by is not great. But at the end of the day when
January comes around, you can be looking around, and there's going to
be some opportunity at the end of December or January. So you got to
wait to play your hand."
Those statements are likely to affect Jim Thome, who hasn't been ruled out as the left-handed designated hitter, and Jermaine Dye, who wants to play right field but admitted Tuesday night a return "doesn't look good" right now.
Most of Williams' answers were short, as he declined to comment on whether teams had inquired about closer Bobby Jenks, and replied with a short "yes" when asked if teams were less inclined to surrender prospects in trades for pitchers, such as the Sox did in the past with deals involving Brandon McCarthy and Freddy Garcia.

I am a Sox fan living in Utah. News about the Sox is little or nothing. But, I would like to see the Sox re-sign Thome and go after John Garland. With Garland, the Sox would have a solid rotation.
