The Belleville News-Democrat reports: What Tolono Unity High School contends was a piece of equipment used to scrape mud from its football players' cleats, Greenville High officials are alleging was a homemade weapon used to intentionally injure their players.

The allegations surfaced this week in the wake of Greenville's 58-53 loss Saturday to visiting Tolono Unity in the semifinals of the Class 3A playoffs.

Tolono Unity (13-0) will play Stillman Valley (13-0) at 4 p.m. today in the Class 3A state-championship game at Memorial Stadium in Champaign.
