Thomas not on Bulls' trip

Tyrus Thomas is not at Bulls practice Wednesday at the Berto Center and will not accompany the team to Cleveland for Thursday's game against the Cavaliers.

Thomas also missed Tuesday's home victory over Milwaukee with what the team called flu-like symptoms.

"Tyrus showed up (Wednesday) morning and is still pretty sick," coach Vinny Del Negro said. "He'll see the doctor (Wednesday and Thursday). Then we'll re-evaluate and see if he can fly into Cleveland. We want to make sure he gets healthy."

Del Negro said Thomas is staying home so as not to infect other players. Del Negro said Thomas arrived at the Berto Center earlier than the other players on Wednesday to be evaulated by athletic trainer Fred Tedeschi.

Team officials said Thomas has a fever, redness in a sore throat and has vomited sporadically.

Thomas has endured a difficult week in which he sat for the entire fourth quarter of Sunday's close road loss in Miami and failed to have his contract extended by Monday's deadline.

The Tribune also reported that Thomas took exception to Del Negro for singling him out for failing to rotate defensively during Monday's practice. That led to captain Lindsey Hunter loudly offering Thomas pointed advice in front of teammates and coaches at the conclusion of Monday's practice.

um...maybe he's just got the flu?

I smell graycap.

I smell a trade.

Can we not have a near-retiree who doesn't play barking orders at our starting PF? It's like if the Tribune brought in an 80-year old who wrote a 200-world column back in the day, and the 80-year old was given instant authority to bark orders at KC. The Bulls locker room is CrazyWorld.

So is he sick or not? This is just getting stupid. If he has the flu he has the flu, if not the org should say he is home for personal reasons or that he was suspended for a game. There is plenty of blame to go around for Ty's lack of development. He certainly needs to take ownership but the org does as well.
