The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports: In his Monday news conference, 49ers coach Mike Singletary related a story about how he called the Bears in 2003 to inform them he was interested in coaching.
"I told [then Bears coach] Dick Jauron exactly this, I said, 'Coach, my wife and I prayed about it, we've decided that we're going to be coaching,'" Singletary said. "'I'm not asking you for a job, but I am telling you that this year, in the very near future, I will be coaching. I don't know where, don't know when.'"
Jauron, according to Singletary, said he'd get back to him. When he did, he told the Bears Hall of Famer that his former team had no interest in hiring him as an assistant coach.
Singletary has told this story before, but in a short week after a bad loss do Bears fans need to be reminded?

Well guys,
I live near San Fran these days and get to see a lot of Niner football. Singletary has molded that team into his image. The come out and hit people in the mouth. The team looks completely different from last year.
He would have been a great addition to the Bears staff. And if you remember he did a great job with the Ravens too.
We missed out on a great coach/ motivator.
I agree with the comment about leaving religion at the door. Too much of anything is no good!
Leave religion at the door please.
????
Being a good christian has absolutely nothing to do with
Leaving religion at the door
Mike is a great guy, he saw me off before I went to basic in 2002, however you don't have to drop religion in on it. He's a good man, and experienced. He has morals, and he doesn't drink, great family and he's a great mentor.
Being a good christian has absolutely nothing to do with Football, nor should it have anything to do with Mike getting a job.
Leave religion at the door please.

Yes, well Mike Singletary has something the McCaskey's, Ted Phillips, and Jerry Angelo have never had...CLASS! Singletary is an honest hard working Christian role model, whereas this Chicago bunch are a bunch of fickle, disingenuous, two faced, backbiters who routinely use ingratitude as a management tool and cultivate an environment that stifles talent and promotes mediocrity. Ron Rivera was the best thing that ever happened to the Chicago defense (after all he WAS a member of what was arguably the most potent defenses in league history). And we all know what happened there.
I think Mike would be ashamed to see how far his old team has fallen. Maybe he should administer a little motivational A$$ whuppin' to get the point across. And I bet he does EXACTLY that come Thursday night.
