The South Bend Tribune reports: The altercation that led to Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen being punched began with a shove of Clausen's girlfriend outside CJ's Pub around 2 a.m. Sunday.
The paper cites an anonymous university source saying Clausen pushed the man away, his hand landing in the man's neck area. The man then punched Clausen in the eye, and the two wrestled on the ground for a few seconds before the fight was broken up.

So Nick what makes you sooooooo sure that what you heard is the truth and not just a rumor? If you were not there shut up and stop trying to tell people what happened... You are NOT smarter than the reporters who also have insider information jackass. Also do you realize that ALL the reports are similar and you are singular in saying that Clausen was the one at fault, GENERALLY (not always) the majority is the majority because it is correct.
As for the "ND Thug" comment by someone else... Do you realize how hard it is to get into Notre Dame? A former coach was quoted as saying that they need to lower their standards to get the "black athlete" in order to compete... In other, less racist terms it is not possible for dumbass thugs to get into the school. All that matters is the fact that it was a fight between two people who were probably drunk, one of them being a famous quarterback. Most likely the dude was talking shit about Clausen and Clausen probably had a few choice words of his own. Then things escalated and a fight ensued.

soooooooo.... every story reported by the press has been wrong... why do you think there are so many different stories... the one that says he was 'sucker punched' is the most rediculous of them all. sucker punched implies someone walking up from the back or side and punching an individual without warning or being provoked. and then... do you reallllly think that a fan was so mad at the quarterback for a football team that the fan punched them because it would make them feel better about their team being so horrible for however many years. not likely..... He says he is 6'3". When ND played Washington this year, Jake Locker made Clausen look like a child, and the 5'11" he really is.
Not too many good things can happen in a bar at 2am. Plus, the football guy comes accross as a bit of punk anyway. He is lucky he was not injured in a serious way.

So, the reports that he was sucker punched are false. They were shoving each other. A sucker punch is when you come from behind or the side. Not that any of this is terribly important.
