Illinois-Chicago had the better start. Illinois State had the better finish. And that's why the Redbirds hold a 34-28 halftime lead at UIC Pavilion.
Illinois-Chicago built an early nine-point lead, but a 16-4 run by Illinois State followed to eradicate that.
Redbirds guard Osiris Eldridge had 17 first-half points, including a jumper that beat the halftime buzzer and provided the six-point intermission edge.
