Corey Wootton's sack of Ricky Stanzi did more than give Northwestern its first touchdown. It also knocked Stanzi out of the game.

Redshirt freshman James Vandenberg replaced him and threw an interception on his first attempt. Linebacker Quentin Davie made the easy pick.

Northwestern capitalized, scoring on a 10-play, 46-yard touchdown drive to take a 14-10 lead. Dan Persa, attempting just his second pass, hit Drake Dunsmore on a pretty 4-yard touchdown pass across the middle.

Don't be surprised if Persa remains under center the rest of the game.
