By Teddy GreensteinMore bad news for a basketball program that seems more cursed than the Cubs: Northwestern guard Jeff Ryan has a torn ACL in his left knee and will have season-ending surgery, the Tribune has learned.
Ryan, a senior from Glenbrook South who would have served as a key backup at both guard sports, injured the knee in the Wildcats' season-opening victory over Northern Illinois.
Ryan might be able to return for a fifth season. That's also the most likely scenario for Kevin Coble, who is mulling season-ending surgery on his left foot.
