SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The suffocatingly slow starts would not be an issue for Notre Dame on Saturday.
The Irish hold a 7-0 lead over Connecticut after one quarter and are poised to add to that with the ball inside the Huskies 5-yard line as the second quarter begins.
Notre Dame produced the speedy start it wanted and desperately needed, forcing Connecticut into a three-and-out to start the game and then running a no-huddle offense all the way to a Jimmy Clausen-to-Golden Tate 8-yard touchdown pass.
Connecticut, meanwhile, has three punts on three possessions led by former Irish quarterback Zach Frazer.
