DEKALB -- Northern Illinois senior Preston Williams made his first career catch, a 9-yard touchdown reception, with 7:26 left in the first quarter Thursday from quarterback DeMarcus Grady. Mike Salerno converted to tie the game 7-7 against visiting Ball State at the end of the nine-play, 59-yard drive.
The Huskies took the lead, 9-7, a minute later on a safety when Jake Coffman recovered a Ball State fumble in the end zone.
