Montini, Joliet Catholic tied 14-14 at halftime

CHAMPAIGN -- Jordan Westerkamp's 14-yard touchdown reception from Montini quarterback Brandon Pechloff with 1:20 left in the first half ties the state Class 5A final between Montini and Joliet Catholic at 14-14..

Each team has three turnovers. Every score has come after a turnover.

Ryan Gorrell scored on a 5-yard run with 4:39 left in the half to pull Montini within seven at 14-7.

All of Montini's turnovers came in the first quarter, including two interceptions that led to touchdowns.

Malin Jones scored from 8 yards with 1:13 to go in the first to give JC a 14-0 lead.

Jordan Lyles scored on an 18-yard run with 6:56 left in the first for a 7-0 lead.

Lyles has 94 yards rushing for JC, making him the third Hilltoppers back with over 1,000 yards rushing this season. Jones has 69 yards.
