Kafka's mobility will be limited for NU

IOWA CITY -- Welcome to Kinnick Stadium, a home away from home for Northwestern. The Wildcats will vie for their third straight victory here, with a kickoff set for 11:02 a.m.

Quarterback Mike Kafka will start but school officials say that backup Dan Persa will be a major factor in the gameplan, especially on designed running plays. That's no major surprise, given that Kafka couldn't return to last Saturday's game after departing with a left hamstring injury in the second quarter.

One other important note: Kick returner/running back Jeravin Matthews is not here. A close friend of Matthews' was killed in a car accident, and the Piitsburgh-area native attended the funeral. But a travel snafu prevented him from making the trip to Iowa City.

Jacob Schmidt will join Stephen Simmons as NU's kick returners.
