Northwestern's Kafka cleared to play vs. Iowa

By Teddy Greenstein

Northwestern will battle undefeated Iowa on Saturday with the Big Ten's most prolific quarterback under center. Mike Kafka's name is not listed on NU's injury report, meaning his self-described "tweaked" left hamstring has healed quickly.

No word on just how effective Kafka will be as a runner, though. NU coach Pat Fitzgerald does not meet with the media after Wednesday.

One other injury note: Safety Brendan Smith re-injured his left thumb and has been ruled out for the game.
