By this time next week, or shortly thereafter, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis almost assuredly will find himself unemployed. But in an interview with AOL Sports' John Walters, Weis made it perfectly clear that he wants to coach again as soon as possible, likely in the NFL.
"I need to work," Weis told Walters, hours after Notre Dame lost in double overtime to Connecticut on Senior Day last Saturday. "For me."
Indeed, Weis sounded even more resigned to an imminent dismissal than he did later Sunday, when he said he "would have a tough time arguing" with Notre Dame administrators angling to fire him for a 6-5 record so far this season and a 35-26 record overall.
Weis told Walters he is "more respected" and "more well-liked" in the NFL. Of his salary, Weis said, "I can promise you I don't earn $3.2 million a year."
And of his son Charlie Jr.'s potential college destinations, Weis said, "I know where he won't be going to college."

I've really enjoyed reading your articles. You obviously know what you are talking about! Your site is so easy to navigate too, I've bookmarked it in my favourites :-D
I really enjoyed this article and some good info you discuss. I am one of those people whom try and try to loose weight but just can't seem to stick to it. I did loose some 50lbs around six months ago but have now put most of it back on again (doh!). I have been warned by the local nurse that I really should loose quite a bit of weight but am again having trouble. I use slimming world at the moment but my good friend Gloria is on the new Fat Burning Furnace diet which she nows swears by. I am going to give it a go - has anybody here given it a go and is it as good as claimed?
Thank you for another informative post. Where else could anybody get this kind of information in such a perfect way of presentation.
Really interesting entry to hang on.. I’m really amazed with this post. Looking for future posts.
Poor Baby. He's leavin' with nothing but the clothes on his back and a sackful of money.
The Era of Obese Coaches is coming to an end. Charlie Weiss, Ralph Freidgen and Mark Mangino may all be in the soup kitchen line very soon. Better place an order for more chicken bullion, and some extra large bibs.
Weis is a great OC, but not a head coach. He can recruit as well as anyone in the country, he has stocked the cupboard with good talent. He needs someone who can make the executive decisions on playcalling.
Those who think he and Romeo are nothing without Belicheck are flat wrong. Neither are head coaches but they are great coordinators who helped establish a great system up in New England that now can be maintained without them. Belicheck doesnt coach the offense and doesnt call the plays on defense. Weis has helped develop Brady, Quinn who was great in college, and Clausen. He will be a steal for any NFL team as an OC.
The man is not a good head coach but I'd love to see him as the Bears' offensive coordinator. He's more creative than Ron Turner
"so by better, you mean that the patriots have won super bowls since he left? Oh thats right, they haven't."
I'm no Pats fan, but they are 56-18 in the past five years, including a 16-0 season that featured a Super Bowl trip. They have not scheduled Navy or Syracuse, but they did play the Bears once.
Apparently he wants Ron Turner's job. But Crennel and he are nothing without Belichick.
More than anything, the statement he made concerning his sons college choice was telling. "I know where he wont be going to college" was the cue more than anything. He knows he is done and because he couldnt do the job, his boy wont be at Notre Dame. Somehow i doubt he was talking about UF or Alabama. Stick a fork in him.
so by better, you mean that the patriots have won super bowls since he left? Oh thats right, they haven't.
"Weis told Walters he is 'more respected' and 'more well-liked' in the NFL."
Yeah, but that was before he was exposed as the most incompetent coach at any level of football. The Patriots have done a lot better than Notre Dame since he left.
I guess he can always get by on his winning personality, sharp wardrobe, and boyish good lucks. Show them your rings, big shot.
Charlie Weis and Jimmy Clausen deserve each other! I remember a couple of years ago when Clausen was so arrogant and prancing around in front of the student section at Penn State before the game. Well, Penn State handed him a well deserved loss. No love lost for the great Charlie Weis who could not follow his doctor's recommendations before his gastric surgery for weight loss as his time was "too precious" to wait on presurgical evaluations. After some complications, he has to sue these doctors who fortunately won. The noble thing for Charlie to do, and I doubt whether he has the class to do it, is to resign and forfeit his golden parachute of a buyout. Bets are though he will not as all he wants is the buck!
Maybe he can be the new offensive coordinator if Turner gets the ax this offseason. NFC Patriots anybody? lol.
NFL likes you - oh sure whatever - go to Buffalo then
