X-rays on Illinois safety Donsay Hardeman's neck were negative and he is considered day-to-day and uncertain for the Illini's next game, Nov. 27 at No. 5 Cincinnati.
Coach Ron Zook described the problem as a stiff neck, after Hardeman tweaked a previous injury in Saturday's loss to Northwestern.
Hardeman only rode the bike at practice Monday and Zook said he probably would keep the senior out of practice this week.
Hardeman has a history of neck injuries. He underwent neck surgery last season and missed two games this season after a hit against Indiana caused numbness in his arm.
