Ex-Bear Harbaugh a red-hot coaching candidate

jharbaugh.JPGSI.com reports: He's a former Bears quarterback, a Michigan man whose brother already is a successful NFL coach. He's Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, and in the wake of stunning victories over Oregon and USC, he's suddenly the hottest coaching prospect in the country.

Although Stanford is desperately trying to lock him up with a long-term deal, Harbaugh could be front-and-center in speculation for the Notre Dame job should Charlie Weis be shown the door. And with his brother John providing an NFL bridge as coach of the Baltimore Ravens, look for Harbaugh -- who played for the Bears from 1987-93 -- to also be in the mix when pro jobs become available.

Who was the last former Bears player to come back and coach the team? Mike Ditka, who was Harbaugh's coach in Chicago.
