Emelianenko scores TKO over Rogers in second round

By Chris McNamara

In the main event at Saturday Night Fights at the Sears Centre Arena, smiling Chicagoan Brett Rogers entered the arena to hip hop. Russian Fedor Emelianenko entered to a doleful Russian dirge. When the bell rang, each attacked with confidence.

A pinpoint jab early in the first round opened a gash on Emelianenko's nose, splashing both fighters crimson. The two traded blows equally in the mixed martial arts bout until midway through second round, when Emelianenko stung Rogers with a right cross, then jumped on the felled fighter delivering more blows until the referee stopped the bout and the American crowd roared for the Russian.
