Cubs at center of many trade rumors

Here's a roundup of some of the latest Cubs rumors flying around Friday on the Internet.

Milton Bradley: Both Texas and the Cubs scotched a report of a three-way deal that would send Bradley to the Rangers, Kevin Millwood to the Mets and Luis Castillo to the Cubs. A Cubs official said no such deal "was discussed." MLB.com quoted a Rangers official as saying it's "not happening."

Roy Halladay: Blue Jays are fishing for trade partners, but budget-conscious Cubs are unlikely suitors.
Curtis Granderson: The would-be Cub still is sitting in limbo. The Tigers have declined to deny he's available, inviting speculation. If so, the Cubs will put together a decent package, but won't part with either closer Marmol or top shortstop prospect Starlin Castro, which could be a deal-breaker.

Marlon Byrd: Byrd's relationship with new hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo is a plus if the Cubs decide they can't wait on a Granderson swap-o-rama. Byrd should be affordable, but wouldn't make as big a splash as Granderson, a hometown kid and clubhouse leader. Mike Cameron is also an option in center if they can't get Granderson.

Matt Holliday: In one Internet report, the Cubs were lumped into a group of teams that could sign Holliday, who reportedly will be seeking between $100-$120 million. But Chairman Tom Ricketts has gone on record as saying he expects only a "slight increase" in the $140 million payroll, meaning the Cubs would have to shed quite a bit of salary to sign Holliday, even if they considered him a potential fit in right field, which they don't.

Mark DeRosa: One of the more popular free agents on the market, the Cardinals' DeRosa is drawing no interest from his former team, despite inquiries made to the Indians last May after Aramis Ramirez's shoulder injury. The Cubs still prefer a left-handed hitting second baseman, which is why they're interested in the switch-hitting Castillo.

We as fans have to let the new owners break in a year without putting our over stressed pressure on their sholders.. Look at the stars we picked up in the past in all Chicago sport teams. Its great to be die-hard fans-but give the guys a year to break in..They try so hard to please us that they choke....or become head cases like Cutler on the bears..Back off a little. The times we won a championship was a time we backed off and didnt expect it. Cub fans--yes its been over 100 years,, but we gave not been on this earth that long.. There are teams that never win... Ever....when I played ball-I played better when I didnt have pressure.. The same with the cubs..Back off Lou and the owners and star players. If Bradley stays-then maybe he will play like he did with texas and Marmol will throw like he did 2 years ago..

If I were DeRosa I would put my middle finger in Hendry's face.

I can't believe Cubs will not part with getting rid of Marmol. What the hell did they witness this last season. My mom could throw more stikes than he did.

It won't matter who the Dubs purchase, trade or sign, Landry will make the wrong moves as usual and the Cubs have another tightwad owner. Nothing new here...just another sad year coming up.

I'm seeing a lot of Nada Surf imposters here, and I'm flattered of course, but I'm the real deal.

Look, whatever the Cubs do, I'm behind it 100%. The Cubs know what needs to be done and they will execute. The drought is over folks, you heard it here first.

Cubs rule, Sox drool!

Here to help as always

Nada Surf your a F*%king Boner.

the Cubs have tried the big name, big salary, slow foot, bad defensive guys with Hendry driving the bus and what has it got us? 3 divisions, wow, whoopee. it's still 101 years since we really won a WS. 1945 since we have been in one. so divisions don't count with me. people don't remember you for divisions.

Rickettes comes in and says let's go with the farm system and not over spend for the big name FA, sign the good players not the name or career year guys, do not eat most of the big contracts as in Bradley or Soriano.

so Hendry is on a 1 year try out, Lou is gone in 2011 thank god, they have not approached Lee about an extension, and the kids will be a year closer to the ML's.

I stated last July that Castro should be here in 2010 and most people said he's 2 years away. now baseball people are saying he'll be here sometime in 2010. why not from the start, move Theriot to 2nd, Fuld in CF, Fukudome back to RF.

Fuld is rated the best defensive CF in the whole Cubs system, including ML's. D and pitching win.

I wouldn't mind seeing castillo added as well as granderson. Then just add some bullpen depth maybee sign derosa if they can get him at the right price. He really wants to come back to chiccago from what I have read. That would be some nice bench depth and really upgrade the outfield defense. Not to mention the great cklubhouse and community precense granderson and dero would have here.

Castillo blows.

The Cubs will sign Bartolo Colon, and that's about all they'll get this year...
Not only will Bradley finish out his career as a Cub, he'll then go into the broadcast booth in a few years.

I know a lot of male Cub fans had the hots for DeRosa in his short stint in Chicago, but it looks like the new Cubs' brass is going to try to change that image.
