SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Charlie Weis walked into his usual Tuesday news conference wearing a navy sweatshirt with "IRISH" emblazoned on the front, not at all looking like a guy about to fall on his sword.
And the Notre Dame coach didn't. And he said he figures no evaluation has been made regarding his future, because no one has told him so.
"I don't think that any decision has been made, because I probably would know," Weis said today. "And I don't know. With that being said, it's full speed ahead. Full speed ahead to (Connecticut), full speed ahead to Stanford, full speed ahead to recruiting."
Athletics director Jack Swarbrick reiterated to the Tribune on Sunday that no decision on Weis would be made until after the Nov. 28 season finale at Stanford.

Does anyone feel Bill Parcells or Joe Montana has a chance of being named?
Take a look at these latest odds:

Yes, Charlie should be gone. His record at ND is the
same as Tyrone's and Davies which we had enough of a
sub-par team on the field. Under Charlie the offense
has improved, but the defense has not, defensive co.
perhaps. So who hired him. Charlie? This time don't
hire any coordinator, please get a seasoned head coach.
Knock off the childish personal attacks. The question is whether there is an available, experienced head coach whose positive skill sets include both Chrley's positives (world class recruiting and great offensive mind) and his negatives (tendency to overrely on the big play at crunch time; failure to oversee defensive and special teams in a head coach capacity). Unless one is available---not a one-year wonder; someone winning with somebody else's players or some small school success---or unless a successful NFL coach wants to deal with young kids, we are probably better offstick with CW for one more year.

Save Charlie! He hasn't beaten ranked teams because he doesn't want to embarrass them. Please think of the South Bend Krispy Kreme franchisee before doing something rash. Everyone is jealous of ND and it's one bowl victory in the past two decades.
if CW is fired then we will lose our sklii position players, who are the best in the country when healthy. CW would be able to talk them into playing 1 more year. They have already stated that they play for him and would not be there if it were not for him. We will be a 3-4 win team next year if this happens...
"CW gives us out best chance now, and he is our best shot in keeping Clausen, Tate, and Allen."
Excellent point.
It's amazing how people blame the head coach for the players dropping balls or for missing EASY tackles, but when they win it's all the players doing a good job. They should fire D coach. He sucks!! We will not win with another coach. CW gives us out best chance now, and he is our best shot in keeping Clausen, Tate, and Allen.
I grew up in Ohio, raised on the Buckeyes and ND Saturdays. The ND allure is gone. Living in Texas now, I went to the WSU-ND game with my 14-year-old son, and there's just no buzz for Irish football with Charlie Weis, the junior tuna. He's not ready to be a head coach (see Romeo; Josh McDaniel coming back to earth). It's just time for a change, for the benefit of ND football. Looking at the carrousel (Davie, O'Leary fiasco, Tyrone, junior tuna), it's hard to imagine anyone coming in and cleaning up the carnage quickly.
Old Country Buffet Manager:
Grow up!
Please send him away! Our margins here at OCB are thin enough in a normal setting. With him around, we are going broke. We are losing our shirts.
Speaking of shirts, after ND gets around to firing Charlie, you think they might donate those sweatshirts he wears? My family is looking for a cheaper place to live.
