Cary-Grove leads 20-17 in Class 6A final

CHAMPAIGN -- In the Class 6A football final, Alex Hembrey ran 64 yards down the sideline for a touchdown and a 20-17 Cary-Grove lead on a fourth-and-1 with 2:37 left in the third quarter. The extra point was blocked by Cody Cleveland.

Chad McCarron intercepted a Providence pass in the end zone as time expired in the quarter.

Mike Stanton caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Joey Houlihan with 7:54 left to give Providence a 17-14 lead Cary-Grove has trailed once this season in the second half.
