CLEVELAND --- The Bulls hung for much of the first quarter with the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, then watched LeBron James throw down two spectacular alley-oop dunks late and trail 27-25 after one quarter.
James scored 11 points to lead the Cavs.
An aggressive John Salmons, mired in a season-long slump thus far, leads the Bulls with six points. He took six first-quarter shots.
Derrick Rose also came out aggressively, firing five shots in eight minutes before being replaced by Kirk Hinrich. Hinrich's drive and score on Daniel Gibson accounted for the final points of the quarter, with Hinrich missing a free throw to cap a potential three-point play.
Tyrus Thomas, who flew here on his own Thursday afternoon, made his first appearance since being sidelined the last two days with the flu. He missed his only shot in 2 minutes, 50 seconds.
