The Blackhawks got a goal from an unlikely source as they are tied 1-1 with the San Jose Sharks after one period Sunday night at the United Center.
Defenseman Brent Sopel's first goal of the season opened the scoring. Sopel took a pass from Jordan Hendry and sent a one-timer from just inside the blue line that appeared to hit the stick of a Sharks d-man and squirted past goaltender Evgeni Nabokov.
Dany Heatley's 14th goal of the season tied it at 1-1. Heatley had plenty of time to pick out his spot and he fired a wrist shot from between the circles past the stick of Hawks goalie Cristobal Huet.
