NEW YORK -- Poor baserunning on the part of opponents remains a storyline for the Yankees.
In the second inning of Sunday's Game 6, Vladimir Guerrero played the role of Nick Punto, who had previously stepped into the Carlos Gomez role. That is to say, Guerrero handed the Yankees an out for no good reason. He did it by venturing too far off first base on Kendry Morales' soft fly to right. Nick Swisher threw to first base for a double play, with his throw easily beating Guerrero to the bag.
Gomez was caught rounding second base too vigorously in a great Game 2 in the Division Series victory over Minnesota. Punto made the same mistake in Game 3 of that series, with his miscue coming as he rounding third base.
