NU holds 13-10 lead over Penn State at the half

Penn State entered Saturday allowing 8.9 points per game, fewest in the nation.

Northwestern exceeded that during an impressive first half. The Wildcats lead 13-10 at the break, and they've outgained the Nittany Lions 246-136.

The major question for Northwestern: Will quarterback Mike Kafka return? He had to leave the game in the second quarter after injuring what appeared to be his left hamstring.

Dan Persa replaced him and ran well, carrying five times for 27 yards. Persa also completed 3-of-5 passes but missed two open receivers on his incompletions.
