Lovie Smith's opening next-day statements following loss to Bengals

Here is Lovie Smith's opening statements Monday, following his team's embarrassing, 45-10 loss to the Bengals:

We were beaten by a good football team yesterday. You have to give the Cincinnati Bengals a lot of the credit. They played well in all three phases. We didn't. We're a better football team than we displayed yesterday on the football field.

This week, we should be a little be closer to getting Adrian Peterson back. Tommie Harris should be good to go this week. So we'll have our full group back ready to go.

It was once loss though, as I told the football team. Doesn't count as two losses in the loss column. For us, we're 3-3 right now with a lot of football left to go. We have a home stretch coming up that we need to take advantage of, starting off with Cleveland this week.

Again, anything bad you want to say about the football game ... of course, as a head football coach, I did not have our football team ready to go. Definitely not one of my better coaching days ... our best coaching days. And, of course, the players didn't play the way that they need to.

We all have looked in the mirror. We were able to look at the video earlier today, to put it behind us. We will learn from that video and get ready for the Browns this week.

Have you ever seen the strategies recommended by attorneys to save your home, keep it in your family for generations to come. Seems like a smart decision, but that's just me!

Great piece you have made here! The internet is stuffed of horrid authorship and I was grabbed by your pellucidity. Your endings are correct and I will immediately subscribe to your rss feed to stay up to date with your up emerging postings. Yes! I admit it, your penning style is exceptional and i need to improve on mine unquestionably.

You stupid coach. You dumb ass coach. You have such a puppy dog face and you look like you're on a different planet during games. Do you know that you have used the two worst quarterbacks in the NFL in the past 3 seasons? Rex Grossman who cost us the god damn superbowl and Jake Cutler who has the most interceptions in the red zone IN THE LEAGUE. AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tonight, against the fourty-niners, who throws a redzone interception? JAKE MOTHERFUCKING CUTLER................... AND DEVIN HESTER IS AN AUTISTIC IDIOT.

Lovie did make adjustments. And, he made those adjustments before half time. So much for concepts. If you have players who can't execute, you have nothing. What worries me is I wonder if the Bears have the necessary talent level to execute any philosophy- cover 2 to cover who?

Why does it always take a full half of play before Lovie makes adjustments? This time the game was way out of reach. Nice job Lovie . . . NOT!

Lovie, you can stop feeding us Bears fans this garbage, because we aren't swallowing it anymore. The only factual statement that you made was that you didn't do your job. As stated already, Adrian Peterson and Tommy Harris are not going to be the difference makers next week. What have they really done this year? Small significant contributions maybe, but the ENTIRE TEAM fell apart against the Bengals. My son's JV Offense could have beaten the Bears Defense (I use that term lightly).

Why don't you just admit failure. Cover 2 is pathetic, and your insistance on sticking with it, coupled with that dumb stoic look on your face all the time, shows that you could care less. Players exhibit the characteristics of their coach, so maybe...just maybe...if you got fired up DURING a game, your players would follow suit. Instead, when you're getting smoked 45-3, you and the rest of the team look llike whooped little puppies. SAD!!!

Petersen and Harris? Petersen and Harris will get us back to full strength? Yeah, if they had them against the Bengals I feel confident that would have turned everything around. I mean, if you're going to point to missing personnel you would have been wiser to mention your Linebackers...but wait. They aren't coming back so they can't be the next saviors.

Lovie, you are a blithering idiot, and a poor excuse as a football coach. Are you the only person on the face of the planet who doesn't realize your base defense (the Cover nobody) is outdated. Plus, you simply do not have the defensive talent to run the Cover 2. As for Jerry Angelo, you are an incredible failure in analyzing NFL talent. You have drafted heavy on defense for the past five years, and the Bears have one of the most pathetic, uninspired and non-talented defenses in the NFL. I hope to God that both Lovie and Angelo are no longer with the Bears organization after this season.

The Chicago Bears did not earn their pay and should give their game day checks to charity for the way they played!

We have a home stretch coming up that we need to take advantage of, starting off with Cleveland this week.

what happened to playing a season in quarters? isn't this just a bad 2nd quarter lovie? every time he opens his mouth jerrys foot goes into it.

do i see 6 losses in the next 10 games?

Jay Cutler = Alfonso Soriano.

And Smith said all of this with a straight face? HE DIDN'T DO HIS JOB! What an understatement. Oh, yeh, Peterson and Harris are going to make a huge difference. He must think he has the other Peterson and Harris hasn't made a difference in a game in 2 years. What kind of smoke and BS is Smith spewing. Must think we are stupid.
