Officials from the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund announced an expanded medical program on Tuesday to help retired NFL players in need.

"People who have contributed to the success of this game...let's make sure they live their life out with a little bit of dignity and respect. I think this is what it is all about," Mike Ditka, chairman of the GGAF, said at his downtown restaurant.

Gridiron Greats is a nonprofit organization providing financial grants and pro-bono medical assistance to needy retired players. Video of Ditka after the jump.
