Gameday from Ryan Field

By Teddy Greenstein

Welcome to Ryan Field, where the sun is shining and the flags are flapping.

The gusty conditions would seem to favor Northwestern, which relies on a short, precise passing game to move the ball. Penn State prefers going up top to speedsters like Derek Moye and Chaz Powell. Quarterback Daryll Clark leads the Big Ten with 17 touchdown passes.

Pat Fitzgerald, though, said the wind would not favor either team. And NU's coach said he believes inclement conditions make it harder for defensive players to line up correctly and execute.

Then again, what does he know about defense? Fitz was merely the nation's best linebacker in 1995 and 1996.

Check back before kickoff for an injury update on the Wildcats.
