Coach Vinny Del Negro said he won't announce his starters for Thursday's opener against San Antonio until after Thursday's morning shootaround.
But as expected, Derrick Rose, John Salmons, Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah worked as the first unit at Wednesday's practice. Del Negro did say Rose would start, but again wouldn't commit to how many minutes the second-year guard would play.
The Bulls open with a back-to-back set of games, traveling to Boston for Friday's game.
"I'm about 80 percent," Rose said. "Hopefully by the end of the month, I should be back to my regular self. But my explosiveness isn't all the way there."
Jannero Pargo's availability will be determined on Thursday. Pargo, who has been battling a sore back, participated in the Bulls' non-contact practice.
The Bulls also waived Derrick Byars.
