Bears believe Browns offensive line will be a challenge

On paper, the 1-6 Cleveland Browns don't do much of anything right. They rank 24th or lower in all the major statistical categories, including second to last in total offense and dead last in total defense.

But Bears ends Adewale Ogunleye and Alex Brown aren't taking anything for granted against a Browns offensive line led by standout Joe Thomas.

"This offensive line, I think, is probably the best offensive line we will have played,'' Brown said. "They're very good. Their record doesn't say how good the offensive line is.

"Their left tackle (Thomas), he's top 3 in the league. He's really good. (John) St. Clair, everybody knows about St. Clair. He's going to try really hard. They have young guy at center (Alex Mack), he's really good. One of the guards is very aggressive. They all play together. I think they're a good group.''

It's hard to imagine the Bears could face a better group than they did last week, when the Bengals totally shut them down with the help of an unbalanced line. Ogunleye, who returned to practice Thursday off an ankle injury, hopes the front four has better luck Sunday.

"I can only focus on the offensive line. I think they've played very well, played hard,'' Ogunleye said of the Browns. "They're trying to right the ship.''

Ogunleye, at left end, is likely to line up against St. Clair, the ex-Bear who plays right tackle.

"It's going to be fun going against him,'' Ogunleye said of St. Clair. "I'm just going to say that he tries hard, kind of guy that goes in every game and busts his (tail)."

Brown will line up against Thomas, the left tackle.

The Bears have 14 sacks on the season but have not recorded a sack in the last two games. The  Browns, in turn, have surrendered 18 sacks.

Maybe the return of Tommie Harris will give the Bears a boost up front. Harris practiced for the second straight day Thursday after sitting out all last week. He was benched against the Bengals and should be motivated and eager to contribute.

The Bears are concerned about the Browns offensive line? Considering how poorly they have been playing I think that they should be worried about the coaching staff instead. For Lovie to say he did not prepare the team for the Bengals is a staggering understatement. It is time for the Bears to get a defensive coordinator and get rid of the Turner boat anchor and get a real offensive coordinator. Orton goes to a different offensive scheme and does great. Cutler comes to the same crappy offensive scheme that Orton left and does poorly. Believe it or not the right coach on a team with good players makes a world of difference and it is time to get some coaches in Halas hall that know what the hell is going on.
